Patiala, August 19 - Language Department Punjab organized a function on the occasion of Sanskrit Day at the head office. The function was presided over by Dr. Virender Kumar, the head of Sanskrit department of Punjabi University and the professor of this department. Pushpinder Joshi attended as the chief guest.

Eminent thinker Dr. Manmohan Singh and Professor of Government Women's College, Patiala, Dr. Omandeep Sharma expressed their views on various topics as keynote speakers.
Director Department said in his welcome speech that We are descendants of the land where the world's first Sanskrit book 'Rigveda' was composed and the world's first edited book 'Aadi Granth' was also created. He said that the task of language is to connect the world, therefore we must have knowledge of the languages ??found in our heritage, which have always contributed significantly to the creation of a united society. The keynote speaker, Dr. Manmohan Singh, during his scholarly speech, gave detailed information about the two different aspects of understanding the language, grammatical and philosophical.
He said that language is the basis of revolution in every way in the world. Dr. Omandeep Sharma expressed his opinion on the subject of language: language string and arrangement of language and said that Sanskrit language is a combination of many languages. Who has done the job of protecting the knowledge of our scholars and advancing it from generation to generation. On this occasion, the chief guest, Dr. Pushpinder Joshi, said that the tradition of Sanskrit in Punjab, which existed 50 years ago, does not exist today. Sanskrit has a great contribution in the Shastra tradition of Punjab. The knowledge that Sanskrit scholars have accumulated while living in the land of Punjab has not happened in any other language or region. He said that Shastra tradition of Punjab should be maintained. He appreciated the efforts being made by the language department for Sanskrit language. In his presiding speech, Dr Virender Kumar Sharma said that the four festivals included in Indian culture are Diwali, Holi, Dussehra and Sanskrit Day. which have different purposes. He said that Sanskrit Day is celebrated every year on the full moon of Sawan The purpose of which is study and teaching, i.e. on this day, teaching for the study of knowledge and its dissemination began on our earth.
He said that on the occasion of Sanskrit Day, we should take a vow to study the knowledge contained in our Vedas and share this knowledge with other people. He said that our knowledge tradition has been attacked many times in the name of linguistic division whereas every language is a great tool to unite society and spread knowledge. That is why we should maintain the Shashatra tradition of Punjab.
