A district level polio workshop was organized in Civil Surgeon, in which Dr. Vikram Gupta, Surveillance Medical Officer of World Health Organization from Office Director Health and Family Welfare Punjab participated. Addressing the officials during the workshop, he said that this time during the Sub National Immunization Day in 12 districts of Punjab from 10 to 12 December during the polio round, all children between 0 and 5 years of age will be administered polio drops. He said that although no polio cases have been reported in India since November 2011 and India has also received the polio-free certificate from the World Health Organization, there are still cases of polio in the countries around India, such as Pakistan and Afghanistan. Due to the discovery, there is a risk of polio virus coming to India, due to which national and sub-national rounds of polio are conducted in India as a precaution.
             Civil Surgeon Patiala Dr. Raminder Kaur while addressing the officials said that on December 10, booths should be set up to give polio medicine to children up to five years of age and children who were deprived of polio medicine on December 10 due to any reason, 11 and 12 On December, polio medicine should be administered from house to house. He said that during the round it should be ensured that no child up to five years of age is deprived of drinking polio drops and high risk areas like (Sallam settlements, slums, kilns) , construction side) etc. should be more focused and maximum support should be taken from various departments, social service organizations, religious organizations, Asha workers, panches-sarpanches of villages to make the campaign successful. In this workshop, District Vaccination Officer Dr. Gurpreet Kaur, District Mass Media Officer Krishna Kumar and other doctors and officials were present.
