The letter said that the government is also responsible for the elections of local Gurdwara Management Committees under Section 87 of the Gurdwara Act (which covers hundreds of local Gurdwara Sahibans in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Himachal), but these elections have been held for the last 18 years.
