  On this occasion, the Civil Surgeon gave information and said that the EPI program was started in the year 1974 by the World Health Organization. Celebrating its 50th anniversary provides an important opportunity to highlight the impact of immunization on lives saved and to encourage new efforts to strengthen the routine immunization initiative. District Immunization Officer Dr. Gurpreet Kaur said that preparations have been made to celebrate "World Immunization Week". So that no pregnant women and children are deprived of vaccination.
He said that according to the guidelines of the Director Health and Family Welfare Department, Punjab, pregnant women and up to five years of age in urban and migrant populated areas such as slum areas, slums, huts, Bhattas, Patheras and other inaccessible areas fall within the district. Outreach camps will be organized to provide complete immunization to all the children. In order to spread awareness about this campaign, speech competitions, chart making, poster making competitions and rallies etc. will be conducted in schools so that the common people can be made aware about this campaign.
