Shri Banwarilal Purohit, Governor Punjab and Administrator UT Chandigarh participated as the Chief Guest in the 10th Annual Women Artists Exhibition 2024 at the Gallery of Museum of Fine Arts, Panjab University, Chandigarh. Shri Purohit inaugurated the exhibition and gave away prizes to the winners in the presence of PU Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Renu Vig. Chief Guest Shri.Banwarilal Purohit congratulated the award winners and all the participants and also appreciated the efforts of Artscapes in providing a platform especially to women artists. He said that it is commendable that Artscapes is bringing the creativity of women to the fore at the national level through this exhibition. Indian historical art can be seen in centuries old buildings and palaces where the artworks and colors are still intact. Even the murals, wall paintings and cave paintings of ancient India seen in the caves of Ajanta, Ellora are proof of the love for art in India. Fine arts and visual arts are powerful mediums of expressing emotions. The Administrator said that women are making their mark in all fields including fine arts and visual arts. India's daughters are making the country proud at the international level as well. He said that women will definitely play an important role in shaping the future through their creative and artistic expression. Artscapes is a non-profit and non-governmental establishment, the brainchild of Suraj Mukhi Sharma, which aims to encourage, strengthen and bring forward artistic talent across various categories of artistry. It strives to create an outstanding art in several categories such as visual arts, literary arts, performing arts and literature and professional training subjects in India and abroad. Artworks of 120 selected artists from across the world, including India, are displayed in 'Artscapes – 10th Edition of the Annual Women Artists Exhibition 2024' in the gallery of the Museum of Fine Arts, Panjab University, Chandigarh. This exhibition will be on view till 11 April 2024. Cash prizes were awarded in the following categories:- 4 Professional Category: Rs.50,000/-, 45,000/-, 40,000/-, 35,000/- 4 Student Category: Rs.25,000/-, 20,000/- (2 each)
