Patiala, January 8 - Deputy Inspector General of Police, Patiala Range, Harcharan Singh Bhullar has informed that as per the directions of Director General of Police, Punjab Mr. Gaurav Yadav, in Patiala, Sangrur, Barnala and Malerkotla districts under Patiala Range, "Kaso" ( Cordon and Search Operation) was conducted. Under which the special DGP HRD Ishwar Singh in Patiala district led.
Apart from this, District Sangrur Additional DGP, Provisioning G Nageshwar Rao, Barnala District Additional DGP Technical Support Service Ram Singh and Malerkotla District Additional DGP, Security SS Srivastava led this special operation. DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar further said that he personally checked the drug hot spot by participating in this operation at Patiala. A total of 22 drug hot spots were checked during the search operation 965 suspects and vehicles were checked During which 34 cases were registered and 38 accused were arrested. Opium 1 kg 100 grams, drug tablets 2330, ganja 1 kg 500 grams, heroin 74 grams, illicit liquor 260 bottles, liquor 18 liters, drug powder 35 grams, drug syrup 14 bottles, car 1, motorcycle 3 and drug money 1,25,000 was recovered.
Apart from this, 4 fugitives were also arrested. During checking, 31 vehicles were stopped and 19 vehicles were challaned. DIG Bhullar further said that to make the search operation successful, 600 drug hotspots were checked in the district by 600 policemen in Patiala, during which 186 suspects were checked. 14 cases were registered and 16 accused were arrested. Opium 1 kg 100 grams, drug pills 1450, ganja 1 kg 500 grams, heroin 10 grams, drug powder 30 grams, illicit liquor 120 bottles, two motorcycles and drug money 1,25,000/- were recovered from Doshiya. Apart from this, 2 fugitives were also arrested. Similarly, a total of 417 police personnel in Sangrur district checked 11 drug hotspots in the district, during which 567 suspects were checked and 4 cases were registered against 04 accused. 25 grams of heroin, 72 bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from the accused. Apart from this, 2 fugitives were also arrested and 14 vehicles were stopped and 7 vehicles were challaned. He further informed that 3 drug hotspots were checked by 259 police personnel in Barnala district due to blockade in the district. During which 149 suspects were checked. 6 cases were registered and 6 accused were arrested. 300 narcotic pills, 05 grams of narcotic powder, 07 bottles of narcotic syrup, 68 bottles of illicit liquor and 18 liters of alcohol were recovered from the accused. Apart from this, 17 vehicles were stopped, 12 vehicles were challaned and 07 under Section 110 CrPC and 02 under Section 110 CrPC were presented.
At District Malerkotla, 2 drug hotspots were checked by 186 police personnel in the district by blockade. During which 63 persons were checked. 10 cases were registered and 12 accused were arrested from whom 39 grams of heroin, 580 narcotic pills, 07 narcotic syrup, 1 car and 1 motorcycle were recovered.
