The Civil Surgeon said that the main objective of "SANS" (Social Awareness and Action to Neutralize Pneumonia Successfully) program in the state of Punjab is early diagnosis of pneumonia in children and early treatment of affected children so as to reduce the deaths of children due to pneumonia. can go He said that pneumonia is the leading cause of death of young children and according to statistics, the number of deaths due to pneumonia among children up to five years of age in India is five out of every thousand children, while the target of the Indian government is to reduce it by the year 2025. He said that pneumonia is caused by bacterial infection in the lungs. Therefore, if there are symptoms of pneumonia in children, do not waste time in home treatment and contact the nearest government health institutions immediately. For the success of the program, all Senior Medical Officers were asked to train the Community Health Officers, ANMs and Asha workers under the program so that the affected children can be quickly identified and treated. District Immunization Officer Dr. Gurpreet Kaur said that to protect small children from pneumonia, it is necessary to feed only mother's milk for the first six months, keep the child warm, keep the environment free of pollution, maintain personal hygiene and complete vaccination. And it is also necessary to get the PCV vaccine for children which is given at 6 weeks, 14 weeks and 9 months.
