Patiala, November 3 - According to the instructions of the Election Commission of India, an important meeting regarding the sweep activities in the district was held today at the district administration complex keeping in mind the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024. During the meeting, Assistant Commissioner (J) Ravinder Singh informed that an awareness campaign has been started in the district to cast the votes of young voters and on the basis of eligibility date 01.01.2024 the vote of every youth who has completed the age of 18 years should be cast. So that no youth is deprived of voting.
The Assistant Commissioner said that the principals of schools and colleges should conduct sweep activities in their institutions and vote of the youth who completed the age of 18 years. He also told that during the special revision of voter lists on date 01-01-2024, transgenders, homeless people and people trapped in other situations should be identified in different groups and every effort should be made to include them in the voter list. Possible efforts should be made and a schedule should be prepared in this regard so that as per the schedule issued by the Election Commission of India on the basis of eligibility date 01-01-2024 the work of correction of photo voter lists from 27-10-2023 to 09-12- During the year 2023, every eligible person, whose age has completed 18 years on 01-01-2024 and whose name is not included in the voter list of any constituency in India, should submit the form to get his name included in the voter list.
