
PEDA signs MoU with (HPCL) to set up 10 (CBG) projects in Punjab Sahiwad
Chandigarh, October 27 (Paigam-e-Jagat)-Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) has appointed Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) to set up 10 compressed biogas (CBG) projects in the state.
Chandigarh, October 27 (Paigam-e-Jagat)-Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) has appointed Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) to set up 10 compressed biogas (CBG) projects in the state. (MoU) has been finalized by Dr., Secretary, Department of New and Renewable Energy Sources. In the presence of Ravi Bhagat, PEDA Chief Executive Officer Dr. Amarpal Singh and HPCL. The agreement was signed by Shuvendu Gupta, Executive Director (Biofuels and Renewables)
Shuvendu Gupta said that HPCL will initially set up 10 Compressed Biogas (CBG) projects with an investment of about Rs 600 crore. Apart from this, possibilities of setting up other new and renewable energy projects in the state will also be explored. These 10 C.B. Yes. The commissioning of the plants will produce over 35,000 tonnes of biogas and approximately 8,700 tonnes of organic fertilizer annually, along with generating annual revenue of approximately Rs 300 crore. These projects will provide direct employment to 600 people and indirect employment to 1500 people.
CEO Dr. Amarpal Singh said that with the commencement of these 10 projects, about 2.75 lakh tonnes of stubble produced in about 1.10 lakh acre area will be consumed, which will help in preventing incidents of stubble burning. These projects will prevent emissions of approximately 5.00 lakh tonnes of carbon dioxide and other pollutants annually which is equivalent to planting 83000 trees annually. Along with this, about 50 rural entrepreneurs will also get the opportunity to supply stubble to these plants, which will create employment opportunities for more than 500 people of these rural entrepreneurs.
