SAS Nagar, August 25 Former municipal councilor and social worker leader Paramjit Singh Kahlon has said that the government is working on a plan to destroy the agriculture of Punjab and their plan is to transfer the land of Punjab and Haryana to corporate houses. Talking to the media Mr. Kahlon said that the farmers of old Punjab, who fed the country during the difficult times and depended on the country in terms of food grains, are being forced to live a miserable life today. They are neither getting the prices of the goods nor are they being given adequate compensation by the governments during natural calamities. He said that during the last 2 years, the crops of the farmers have been continuously damaged, but in this rainy season, where the crops of the farmers have been destroyed, the sand of the rivers is also coming on the land, which will cost money to remove. He asked the governments that under the Fasal Bima Yojana, the amount of thousands of crores of rupees given to the insurance companies of the corporate houses is not being paid to the farmers now. He said that today farmers, farm laborers and rural small shopkeepers are in a lot of trouble, but no adequate compensation is being given by the government and the youth are already leaving Punjab for foreign countries due to the apathy of the government. They have demanded that the farmers should be given adequate compensation for the floods and the youth of the country should be given adequate employment to contribute to the development of the country.
