Bangladeshi illegally entering India sent back: Chief Minister

Guwahati, Sep 11- Assam Police arrested a Bangladeshi national for illegally entering India and security personnel later sent the man back to his native country. Chief Minister Himmat Biswa Sarma wrote in an 'X' post on Wednesday that Toyu Sheikh, a Bangladeshi national who was illegally entering India, was stopped by Assam Police at 1:45 am and sent back to Bangladesh. He said that our forces are on high alert along the border and we will prevent any attempt to infiltrate into Indian territory.

Chief Minister Himmat Biswa Sarma wrote in an 'X' post on Wednesday that Toyu Sheikh, a Bangladeshi national who was illegally entering India, was stopped by Assam Police at 1:45 am and sent back to Bangladesh. He said that our forces are on high alert along the border and we will prevent any attempt to infiltrate into Indian territory.
The Chief Minister emphasized that infiltration attempts from Bangladesh have increased in the last few months and the security forces are extra vigilant to thwart the activities of infiltrators.
The figures he shared show that a total of 54 illegal immigrants have been detected since January this year, including 48 in Karimganj district, 4 in Bongaigaon district and one each in Dima Hasao and Dhubri districts.
Of these, 45 persons were successfully repatriated to their native country while 9 were arrested in Karimganj.
