Speaking on the occasion, District Olympic Association General Secretary and Maharaja Ranjit Singh Awardee Mr. Jagdeep Singh Kahlon shared the grief with the family. He said that there are some rare people who leave the world with their unique identity by making a great contribution to the society with their hard work. While the society continues to smell with the aroma of the works done by them, they also become a source of inspiration for a large number of people. Mr. Kahlon said that there was such an outstanding personality, Bhavjit Singh Sidhu, who rose from Diwana village in Barnala, the land of dunes, and established his identity in a city like Patiala with his hard work. And then through cycling, he raised the flag of his glory and that of Punjab at the world level.
He said that Bhavjit Sidhu started the club under the name of Royal Patiala Riders in the year 2016 along with 15 gentlemen. Created to promote fitness and awareness for future generations, the club has grown to include 45 members who cycle at least 40 km daily. On this occasion, it was announced that District Olympic Association, Patiala will organize a tournament in the name of late Bhavjit Singh Sidhu. Society for Sports Persons Welfare also expressed deep sorrow on this occasion.
Various national and international players and representatives of sports organizations were present on this occasion.
