
Complete ban on campaigning within 100 meters of polling stations on polling day
Hoshiarpur - In view of the Lok Sabha elections 2024, as per the provisions made in Section 130 of the Representation of the People Act 1951, election campaigning will stop 48 hours before the end of polling. Therefore, on the day of polling, it is necessary to ban any kind of election campaigning at the polling stations or any public, private places that come within 100 meters radius of the polling stations. And the booths to be constructed by the contesting candidate are also required to be constructed away from the polling stations.

District Magistrate Hoshiarpur Komal Mittal, in exercise of powers under Section 144 of the Criminal Code 1973 (Act No. 2 of 1974), in favor of the candidates contesting the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 at the polling stations or any public places on the day of polling. There is a complete ban on any kind of campaigning within the radius of 100 meters of the polling stations. The District Magistrate has also issued an order that the booths set up by the contesting candidates will be set up within a radius of 200 meters from the gate of the polling station. This order will remain in force within the limits of the district till the end of the polling process on June 1.
