Nawanshahr - Every year June 5 is celebrated as World Environment Day across the world, through which people are made aware to protect the environment. SKT Plantation Team, an organization working for environmental protection in Nawanshahr, in collaboration with Forest Department (Extension) Patiala, planted saplings in the park located at Disposal Area Garhshankar Road on the occasion of World Environment Day and gave the message of environmental protection. Jaskaran Singh from Forest Division Extension Patiala was present on this occasion. Team moderator Ankush Nijhawan said that man and environment are very deeply related to each other, one cannot be imagined in the absence of the other. That is why Environment Day is celebrated globally today to prevent indiscriminate cutting of natural resources, marine pollution, environmental pollution, overpopulation, wildlife crime, unsustainable consumption and global warming and to prevent future threats. So that our environment remains safe and liveable. He said that the main objective of celebrating 'World Environment Day' is to make people around the world aware about burning issues like environmental pollution, climate change, greenhouse effect, global warming. The aim is to make all people aware of various problems and the consequences caused by them and motivate them to make every possible effort to protect the environment. He said that this year's World Environment Day campaign focuses on land restoration, combating desertification and drought under the slogan "Our Earth, Our Future". Forest Officer Jaskaran Singh said that this program has been organized under the supervision of Range Incharge Balihar Singh of Forest Division Extension, Patiala and Block Incharge Forest Officer Somnath of Nawanshahr. He said that many steps should be taken to protect the environment. On this occasion, we can contribute to preserving the environment around us by planting trees and inspire others to do the same. We can go to various events and spread awareness. And can discuss environmental conservation issues with people and find solutions for environmental conservation.
