
Former panchayat member arrested red-handed for taking bribe of 1.40 lakhs
Patiala, May 28 - The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has arrested Karnail Singh, a former panchayat member of village Diugarh in Patiala, red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs.1,40,000. Giving information in this regard, the official spokesperson of the State Vigilance Bureau said that the said accused has been arrested on the complaint filed by his villager Shera Singh.
Patiala, May 28 - The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has arrested Karnail Singh, a former panchayat member of village Diugarh in Patiala, red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs.1,40,000. Giving information in this regard, the official spokesperson of the State Vigilance Bureau said that the said accused has been arrested on the complaint filed by his villager Shera Singh.
The complainant contacted the Vigilance Bureau and told that a case has been registered against him under the NDPS Act at Ghagga Police Station, District Patiala. He alleged that CIA Samana in-charge Sub Inspector (SI) Manpreet Singh and Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Pargat Singh had demanded a bribe of Rs 2 lakh in exchange for helping him in this police case. And they paid this bribe amount. The spokesperson further said that after the preliminary investigation of this complaint, the Vigilance Bureau team laid a trap and caught Karnail Singh red-handed when he took a bribe of Rs 1,40,000 from the complainant in the presence of SI Manpreet and ASI Pargat Singh. In this regard, a case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act against Karnail Singh in the Vigilance Bureau's Patiala Range Police Station. He said that during the further investigation in this case, the role of the said SI Manpreet Singh and ASI Pargat Singh will be investigated. And they will be nominated in this case.
