Chandigarh, 19th May,2024- The second stage randomization of polling personnel for the Chandigarh Parliamentary constituency was successfully conducted using randomization software. The process was overseen by General Observer Sh. S. S. Gill and Returning Officer Sh. Vinay Pratap Singh. Additionally, the randomization of Micro Observers and Counting staff was completed during the same session. District Election Officer-cum-Returning Officer Sh. Vinay Pratap Singh stated that the constituency comprises 614 polling booths, and the randomization process involved approximately 3,200 polling personnel. The utilization of randomization software ensured a fair and transparent selection process. In preparation for the upcoming elections, special polling teams have been formed to facilitate home voting through postal ballots for voters aged 85 and above, as well as Persons with Disabilities (PwD). These teams will visit the homes of such voters according to a pre-announced schedule to assist them in casting their votes via postal ballot. Candidates have been informed about this schedule, enabling them to appoint their polling agents to oversee the process. The entire home voting procedure will be closely monitored by Micro Observers, and videography will be conducted to ensure transparency. Voters who have opted for home voting will receive schedule notifications through phone calls, SMS, and visits from Booth Level Officers (BLOs). Each home voting team will consist of two polling officials and will operate under the supervision of Micro Observers. This initiative underscores our commitment to making the voting process accessible and fair for all eligible voters in the constituency.
