SAS Nagar, May 14 - Former senior police officer Mr. Hargobind Singh today started his political innings by joining the Shiromani Akali Dal. He has been formally inducted into the Akali Dal by the party president Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal and has been given the responsibility of the party's national vice president.

Shri Hargobind Singh is a resident of Phase 7, Mohali and he has also served as AIG of Flying Squad of Vigilance Department of Punjab Police at Mohali. He has also held the post of SSP Ferozepur. He has a good reputation in Mohali and surrounding areas and his joining the Akali Dal is likely to benefit the Akali Dal a lot.

Shri Hargobind Singh said that Akali Dal is the only regional party which can fight with the central government for the interests of Punjab and Panth. He said that he will fulfill his responsibility diligently and work for the victory of the party candidates during the Lok Sabha elections.
