Patiala, May 10 - Shiromani Akali Dal's candidate from Patiala parliamentary constituency NK Sharma today rode on a tractor and came to fill the nomination papers along with his supporters. His wife Babita Sharma filed nomination papers as his covering candidate.
NK Sharma's father VN Sharma and Political Secretary Krishnapal Sharma were also present on this occasion. Talking to reporters, NK Sharma said that he is the son of a farmer and tractor is our life. He said that Shiromani Akali Dal has always worked for the welfare of farmers, Punjab and Punjabis. It was the Akali Dal government led by Sardar Parkash Singh Badal that made agriculture electricity free for farmers Thanks to which agriculture became a profitable business in Punjab But now due to the apathetic attitude of the central government and the present "AAP" government of the state, the farmers are committing suicide due to debt. But both the governments are not taking the essence of the farmers.
NK Sharma said that earlier farmers' agitation was going on at the borders of Delhi and now farmers' dharna is going on at Shambhu border since February 13. But neither the BJP government at the center nor the Punjab government is taking their essence. Akash Sharma and Sukhbir Singh Sanour, PAC members of Akali Dal were also present on this occasion.
