Flying squad ready to take action against unauthorized paddy importers from other states

Patiala, November 3 - Additional Deputy Commissioner of Patiala Anupreeta Johal has directed the police department to set up 24-hour police checkposts at barriers/borders with other states during the current paddy procurement season.

Giving more information about this, the Additional Deputy Commissioner said that according to the instructions received from the Secretary, Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Punjab, to prevent the arrival of unauthorized paddy or rice from other states and illegal activities and to conduct unannounced checking of markets. Flying squads have been formed in Patiala district by involving the officers of various departments and police.
This order has been sent to the District Police Chief, Group SDMs, District Market Officer, District Controller, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs and instructions have been given to take further action.
He said that these flying squads will check the unauthorized arrival of paddy/rice from other states at the market committee level and check illegal paddy and rice in the markets of the market committee level especially during the evening or night time. Legal action will be taken by confiscating the moving trucks or warehouses.
