Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister Anmol Gagan Mann on Thursday said work should start soon on the Rs 20 crore project for the construction of Heritage Street, which will commemorate the great contribution of Punjab and Punjabis in the national freedom struggle. After inaugurating the three-day Inquilab Fair dedicated to the 116th birth anniversary of Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh in village Khatkar Kalan of the district, Anmol Gagan Mann said that the department should issue the tender for the Heritage Street Project within a month. All the formalities of which have been completed. He said that from the present Shaheed-e-Azam Museum in Khatkar Kalan. A heritage street will be built till the ancestral house of Bhagat Singh. Apart from this, the work of expansion of the museum will also be started here at a cost of Rs 6 crore. The Cabinet Minister said that the Punjab Government is committed to making it. Committed to fulfilling the dreams of martyrs and freeing Punjab from corruption. The Cabinet Minister also talked about reviving the tourism sector. Concerted efforts are being made and Khatkar Kalan will be developed as a tourism hub not only at the national but also at the global level which will inspire the coming generations. He said that development of heritage sites will be done on priority basis. Anmol Gagan Mann also inspected various stalls set up by the district administration in the grounds of the museum. Director Tourism Varinder Kumar Sharma, Deputy Commissioner Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa etc. were present on this occasion.
