Nurpur Bedi, September 19- Lance Naik Baljit Singh of Jhaj village, who was martyred in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, was cremated with state honors at the village crematorium today. Lance Naik Baljit Singh (29 years), son of Santokh Singh, who was posted in 2 Para Special Force of 57 Engineer Regiment of Indian Army, was martyred when an army vehicle fell into a 200 feet deep ditch while facing the enemy in Manjakot area during duty on Tuesday. Due to this, 4 other soldiers in the vehicle were seriously injured, while Sepoy Baljit Singh was martyred in this accident.
Today, first of all, Indian Army officers brought the body of the soldier wrapped in the tricolor to his native village Jhaj. School students standing on the roadside to see the journey of the martyr's body wrapped in the tricolor from Nurpur Bedi to village Jhaj paid tribute to the martyr by raising slogans of 'Shaheed Baljit Singh Amar Rahe'.
The martyr's body was saluted by firing in the air by the army contingent that reached the cremation ground from Chandimander. Apart from SDM Anandpur Sahib Rajpal Singh Sekhon, Naib Tehsildar Ritu Kapoor, DSP Ajay Singh, SHO Gurvinder Singh Dhillon, who arrived on behalf of the Punjab government, Ram Prasad Pali Chaddha, father of MLA Dinesh Chaddha, who is among the political and social figures, paid tribute to the martyr by offering floral tributes.
The soldier's brother Sulkhan Singh lit the pyre. Martyr Baljit Singh was married a year ago. The martyr's widow Amandeep Kaur and mother Sukhwinder Kaur were also deeply shocked. In this sad atmosphere, the eyes of everyone in the area and everyone were moist.
