Chandigarh, May 30, 2024: The Punjab Raj Bhavan was abuzz with pride and joy as it celebrated the 37th Goa Foundation Day. The event commemorated Goa’s rich history, vibrant culture, and its journey to becoming the 25th state of the Indian Union.

The event commemorated Goa’s rich history, vibrant culture, and its journey to becoming the 25th state of the Indian Union. Sh. Rajeev Verma, Advisor to the Administrator, presided over the function, In his opening remarks, Advisor to the Administrator Sh Rajeev Verma said that he felt transported to Goa while watching the performance, highlighting the unique charm and significance of Goa. He praised its sun-kissed beaches, vibrant culture, and rich history, describing Goa as a gem on India’s western coast. Reflecting on Goa’s historical journey, Sh.Verma recounted its transition from being a part of the Maurya Empire to its rule by various Hindu dynasties, followed by over 450 years under Portuguese rule, and finally its inclusion in the Indian Union. Verma emphasized that Goa’s history is a testament to its resilience and the indomitable spirit of its people. Advisor highlighted the serene beaches of Palolem and Vagator, the vibrant shores of Baga and Calangute, and the lush green forests and rolling hills that enhance Goa’s charm. He also noted the importance of Goa’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites, such as the Basilica of Bom Jesus and Se Cathedral, as symbols of the state’s rich heritage. Sh Rajeev Verma acknowledged and honored the contributions of Goa’s freedom fighters, leaders, and citizens who have played pivotal roles in shaping the state. He called upon everyone to carry forward their legacy with integrity and determination. he extended heartfelt wishes to all Goans and countrymen on this auspicious occasion. The event showcased Goa’s diverse cultural fabric, with students from local schools and universities prepared by Chandigarh in the Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Academy office Dignitaries present at the event included Sh. Satya Pal Jain, Additional Solicitor General of India,Sh. Raj Kumar Singh I.G, U.T, and other officers of Chandigarh Administration.
