Tribute ceremony at Khalsa College Mahilpur on the death of poet Surjit Patar

Mahilpur, May 11 - A tribute meeting was organized by the Punjabi Department of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College Mahilpur under the leadership of Principal Dr. Parvinder Singh on the sudden demise of famous Punjabi poet Padmashree Surjit Patar. The staff members present on this occasion expressed deep sorrow over the departure of poet Surjit Patar from this mortal world and paid tribute to the departed soul by observing two minutes of silence.

On this occasion, Chairman of Punjabi Department, Dr. JB Sekhon said that poet Surjit Patar was the man of the era of Punjabi literature. Who has served as an institution in the field of Punjabi literature, art and culture by rendering outstanding services as a poet, prose writer, translator as well as Chairman of Punjab Arts Council. On this occasion, Principal Dr. Parvinder Singh said that the demise of a great person and famous poet like Surjit Patar is a big loss for literature and society. He recalled the support and leadership given by Surjit Patarji in the International Punjabi Conference organized in the college in February 2019 and expressed his deepest condolences to his family.
