Nawanshahr - "Upakar Yuva Club" was established today by "Upakar Coordination Society", an organization dedicated to raising awareness about two social evils "female feticide" and "evil of drugs" for the last 18 years. During a special meeting at SASS School Langroa, Tanbir Singh Bharta was given the responsibility of President, Akrash Bali as Secretary and Simranjit Kaur Takhi as Cashier.
Principal of the school Surinderpal Agnihotri, Sukhwinder Lal, Master Harinder Singh, Madam Guneet and students, Ranjit Kaur, Madam Priya and students from ITI (Female) Nawanshahr were present on this occasion. Jaspal Singh Gidda, Principal Parvinder Singh Jasomjara, Dr. Avtar Singh Deenowal Kalan, Des Raj Bali, Birbal Takhi, Narinderpal former postmaster, Madam Balwinder Kaur Bali, Madam Jyoti Baga and Paramjit Singh were present on behalf of Upkar.
       Addressing the gathering on this occasion, Principal Surinderpal Agnihotri said that although the list of social evils is long. But the sins like killing the unborn girls in the mother's womb and the social evil of drugs and pushing the young sons to the well of death are endangering the society. The work done by those charitable societies for a long time for awareness of both social evils is commendable. Jaspal Singh Gidda shared information mentioning the sex ratio in children up to one year of age And told that according to the data released by the health department, the number of 962 girls behind 1000 boys has been recorded at the first place in Nahl district Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar Punjab. Around eleven hundred lives are being lost every year across the country due to the evil of drugs.
Despite the difficulties in this multi-colored world, life is livable. So they encouraged the youth to avoid the evil of drugs. Principal Surinderpal Agnihotri was honored by Upkar Society.
