Patiala, March 21 - District Monitoring Committee on Accessible Elections (DMCAE) meeting under the leadership of Additional District Election Officer Madam Kanchan to ensure active and constructive participation of disabled and elderly voters in Patiala district in Lok Sabha Elections-2024 District Administrative Complex happened at During the meeting, the Additional District Election Officer said that those above 85 years of age and more than 40 percent disabled will be given the facility to vote through postal ballot at home. So Form 20 will be filled before them. He said that there are 11915 disabled voters in the district, who should be made aware about the Shaksam app so that they can register themselves. Madam Kanchan said that wheel chairs, ramps at all polling stations, Braille ballot sheet facility, separate voting queue, booth volunteers and pick and drop transport facility will also be made available to PWD voters at all polling stations in the district. He said that the committee will also conduct a training session with BLOs, polling officers, booth volunteers, agents of political parties and police force to create awareness about PWD voters. A special awareness campaign will also be conducted on various platforms to make the differently abled aware with the support of organizations working for the betterment of persons with special needs in the district. He further informed that the DMCAE committee will hold a meeting in this regard every fortnight. District Social Security Officer-cum-District Nodal Officer (PWD Voter) Virinder Singh Bains, Assistant Director Youth Services Dr. Dilbar Singh, Election Tehsildar Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, District Nodal Officer Sweep Prof. Savinder Rekhi, DDF Nidhi Malhotra, District Icon Jagdeep Singh and Jagwinder Singh along with various social service organizations and heads of various departments were present on this occasion.
