Chandigarh, 1st March, 2024:- Order Under Section 144CR.P.C Whereas, it has been made appear to Sh. Vinay Pratap Singh, I.A.S., District Magistrate, U.T., Chandigarh that there is likelihood of causing annoyance, obstruction or injury to persons, danger to human life and property, disturbance of public peace and law and order, cheating by unlawful means such as use of Photostat machine or illegal aid from coaching centers in the vicinity of examination centers on account of H.C.S. (Judicial Branch) Preliminary Examination -2023-24 to be held on 03.03.2024 (Sunday) from 11:00 AM to 01:00 PM at various educational institutions in U.T. Chandigarh. Whereas, it has also been made to appear to Sh. Vinay Pratap Singh, I.A.S., District Magistrate, U.T., Chandigarh that the gathering of four or more persons, carrying of fire arms and other weapons/articles capable of causing injury, raising slogans and displaying placards, opening of Photostat machine shop and law coaching centers neat examination centers is likely to cause obstruction in the maintenance of peace and law and order and conducting the examination properly and therefore, I am satisfied that it has become necessary to issue directions to prevent such obstructions as mentioned above. Now therefore, Sh. Vinay Pratap Singh, I.A.S., District Magistrate, U.T., Chandigarh in exercise of the powers vested with him by virtue of section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 do hereby prohibit the gathering of four or more persons except candidates, carrying of any fire arms and other weapons/articles capable of causing injury, raising slogans and displaying placards in the area of 100 meters around the examination centres in U.T.. Chandigarh on 03.03 2024, It is further ordered that all the Photostat machine shops within 200 meters around the examination centres and coaching centers in the vicinity of examination centres around 200 meters shall remain closed on 03.03.2024 till examination is over. This order shall not apply to the police, para-military, military or any other government servant on official duties. This order shall remain in force w.e.f. 00:01 hours on 03.03. 2024 upto 23:59 hours of 03.03.2024. In view of the emergent nature of this order, it is being issued ex-parte and is addressed to the public in general. Any breach of this order would invite action under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code and other relevant laws.
