Patiala, December 28 - The activities of the famous Rajindra Gymkhana Club for the prestigious election to be held on December 30 have reached their peak. Both, the Goodwill Group and the United Progressive Group, are pushing hard to woo voters. The series of meetings and parties with various associations and organizations continues.
Harpreet Singh Sandhu, the candidate for Secretary of United Progressive Group, has accused the previous team under the leadership of Dr. Sudhir Verma of Goodwill Group of leading the club to a loss, but Dr. Sudhir Verma, who is also a candidate for Secretary for this election, has made these allegations. Denied the allegations saying that the allegations are absurd and club members know how his team completed 18 projects in 8 months despite the then covid crisis. He said that the purpose of establishing the Goodwill Group was to bring improvements in the club, in which the group achieved success. He further said that the Goodwill Group does not indulge in condemning anyone and does not engage in divisive politics. The only aim is to make the club the best it can be. Dr. Sukhi Boparai, the candidate as the president of Goodwill Group, expressed similar views and said that the way the club members are getting support, it seems that their group will get a big victory. He claimed that apart from Patiala Bar Association, Focal Point Association and Patiala Chemists Association, old teachers and students of YPS Patiala have also decided to support the Goodwill Group. Dr. Sukhi Boparai said that nothing will be done by making accusations alone, the United Progressive Group will come forward for a debate but none of their members are ready for this. At the same time, the United Progressive Group has released a list of several promises, which has been named the "Mission and Guarantee Card". Deepak Kampani, the candidate for the president of the group, and Harpreet Singh Sandhu, the candidate for the secretary, have said that international facilities will be provided to the club members without any new construction. Kompany said his group brought financial transparency to the club which was not there before. Both the groups say they are contesting the election on the issue of development in the club.
