Kolkata incident: CBI arrested the former principal of the hospital

Kolkata, September 2 - The CBI today arrested Sandeep Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, in connection with alleged financial irregularities. Ghosh has been arrested on the 15th day during interrogation at the agency's Salt Lake office in the case of rape and murder of a trainee female doctor of RG Kar Hospital. The former deputy superintendent of the hospital, Dr Akhtar Ali, had filed a complaint regarding financial irregularities in the institution during Ghosh's tenure.

On the other hand, a large number of people, including film personalities and human rights activists who participated in the rally, staged a dharna throughout the night in protest against the alleged rape and murder of a female doctor. The sit-in continued till four in the morning. Similarly, former Union Minister Nitish Pramanik has been arrested after a clash with the police of BJP workers who were rallying in Cooch Bihar. Meanwhile, the junior doctors of various medical colleges of West Bengal held a rally to Kolkata Police Headquarters Lal Bazar today demanding the resignation of Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal. On the other hand, the Calcutta High Court asked the West Bengal government to submit all the documents related to the arrest of four persons in connection with the march conducted to the State Secretariat 'Naban' on August 27.
