
PGIMER Celebrates 78th Independence Day with Enthusiasm
PGIMER celebrated the 78th Independence Day with great enthusiasm, led by Director Prof. Vivek Lal. The event began with the national flag hoisting, followed by a Guard of Honour and a touching rendition of ‘Ae Mere Watan Ke Logo’ by nursing officers. In his address, Prof. Lal praised the healthcare workers for their unwavering dedication, attributing PGIMER’s success to their relentless commitment.

In his address, Prof. Lal praised the healthcare workers for their unwavering dedication, attributing PGIMER’s success to their relentless commitment. He also highlighted the institute’s significant achievements, including its top ranking under the Ayushman Bharat scheme and its leadership in organ transplantation, having performed over 5,000 renal transplants.
Prof. Lal reflected on PGIMER’s history, honoring the founding figures like Sardar Pratap Singh Kairon and pioneers such as Dr. Tulsi Dass and Dr. P.N.Chhuttani, who helped establish PGI as a leading medical institution both nationally and internationally. He also announced recent accomplishments, including Prof. Jitendra Kumar Sahu’s recognition with the Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar and PGIMER’s consistent 2nd place ranking in the NIRF rankings.
Following the flag ceremony, a tree plantation drive was launched by Prof. Lal, where 250 saplings were planted across the campus, emphasizing the beautification of the institute. The celebration concluded with the distribution of sweets, fostering unity and community spirit among the PGIMER family. Prof. Lal reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to patient care, emphasizing that PGIMER stands by its patients, delivering the highest standards of care.
