Chandigarh 01.07.2024:- The Three New Criminal Laws have been implemented today, across the country to achieve a transformation in the criminal justice system and ensure delivery of timely justice. Today, an event of launching three New Criminal Laws with a special awareness session was organized at Police Station, Sector-17, Chandigarh. Sh. Rajeev Verma, IAS, Advisor to the Administrator was the Chief Guest during the function. Sh. Vinay Pratap Singh, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Sh. Surendra Singh Yadav, IPS, DGP/UT, Chandigarh, Sh. Raj Kumar Singh, IPS, IGP/UT, Sh. Sumer Partap Singh IPS, SSP/Traffic & Security, Ms. Kanwardeep Kaur, IPS, SSP-UT, Chandigarh, Sh. Ketan Bansal, IPS, SP/Headquarters & Training, U.T., Chandigarh, Sh. Mridul, IPS, SP/City, U.T., Chandigarh were present on this occasion. The prominent members of Resident Welfare Associations, Senior Citizens, Police officials and public leaders were also present. 
Ms. Kanwardeep Kaur, IPS, SSP-UT, Chandigarh welcomed the Chief Guest and briefed about the implementation of three New Criminal Laws by Chandigarh Police. All SDPOs, SHOs, Unit Incharges, IOs and CCTNS Operators have already been given training on the new laws, use of e-Sakshya Applications, SOPs/Circulars with regard to implementation of new laws. 
Sh. Deepak Bajaj, Sr. Advocate, Punjab and Haryana High Court spoke about these new laws and told that these transformative amendments are aimed at overhauling the criminal justice system, with a focus on timely justice delivery, victim centric approaches, gender neutrality and stringent punishments for crimes against women and children. 
The Advisor to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh handed over the new tabs to Investigation officers of the Police Station. He also appreciated the efforts of Chandigarh Police being carried out for successfully implementation of three New Criminal Laws. 
Sh. Surendra Singh Yadav, IPS, DGP/UT, Chandigarh briefed the participants about the three New Criminal Laws and its importance. He said these laws are aimed at replacing colonial-era statutes with modern legal frameworks. He encouraged them to take the new challenges with positive approach and with full dedication.
